So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word (Rhema) of God.

Romans 10,17

„For no word (Rhema) from God will ever fail.“

Luke 1,37

What does Rhema mean?

“Rhema” is a Greek word used in the New Testament for oral speech, the spoken word. A Rhema of God is always alive, effective, and powerful. It creates faith in the heart through divine revelation. It is a specific word given to a particular person in a particular situation.

If you have received a rhema from God, then you will know:

This is what God has spoken to me, this is an irrevocable truth, it will come to pass, it “belongs to me”.

Often people make the mistake of taking the rhema that someone else has received, and trying to use it as a formula or patent remedy for their issues. That is wrong. A rhema cannot simply be copied and turned into a method.

How do I receive a Rhema?

You receive it by having fellowship with the logos (= word of God).

Logos and Rhema

In the New Testament, “logos” refers to the totality of the Word of God, the entire Holy Scriptures. According to John 1:1-14, this word became man in the person of Jesus Christ.

The words that he spoke, the words through which he healed and liberated people, were rhemas – individual, personally revealed promises full of creative power. A Rhema is never isolated, but is always in harmony with the entire logos from which it arises.
